Setting a Source’s Coordinate System
The project’s coordinate system to be used by all sources is set when the project is started. When a new source is added to the project, TerraBuilder tries to read its coordinate system. If TerraBuilder is able to do so, it automatically converts the source to the project’s coordinate system. If the source does not include coordinate system information or TerraBuilder is unable to read this information, you can indicate the coordinate system of this source, as provided by the data supplier, in the Coordinate System dialog box. TerraBuilder then converts the source data to the project’s coordinate system. Although the source file retains its original coordinate system, it is placed on the terrain according to the reprojection parameters.
The coordinate system for a current project is set or modified from the Project Settings dialog box. See “Setting Project Coordinate System” in the “Project Management” chapter for more information.
To set a source’s coordinate system:
Note: If Use Project’s Coordinate System is selected in the Reproject tab of the TerraBuilder Preferences dialog box, TerraBuilder uses the source’s coordinates without conversion to a different coordinate system, so the source directly opens. See "Reproject Tab" in the System Preferences chapter for more information.
1. If you want to set a source’s coordinate system after inserting it in the project, in the Coordinate System group of the Properties Sheet, click Set. The Coordinate System dialog box is displayed.
2. Set the coordinate system as required. See “Coordinate System Dialog Box” in the “Project Management” chapter for information.
